Switching to One UI 7 brings a noticeably smoother experience and the long-awaited vertical list of applications, but right after the update, the interface may surprise you with some not-so-convenient solutions. Two simple changes bring back the familiar logic of notifications and make the system much more comfortable.

Android Authority writes about it.

What two steps will bring back the familiar Samsung experience?

One UI 7 is already rolling out to Galaxy S22, S21, Z Fold 4, Z Flip 4, and other models. Most users say the first problem is the separation of the curtain into separate pages, while others point to the lack of detailed notifications on the locked screen.

First, let's talk about the Quick Settings curtain. In previous versions, when swiping down, the user saw both toggles and notifications at the same time. Now, if you swipe from the left or centre of the screen, only notifications open, and a gesture from the top right corner shows only quick settings.

You can bring both elements back to the same page in a minute: first, swipe from the upper right corner, tap the pencil icon, open Panel Settings, and select Together from the menu. After that, regardless of where you swipe, the system will again display the toggle switches on top and notifications below them. At any time, you can switch back to split mode if you want to experiment with a new design.

The second thing is the locked screen. By default, One UI 7 only shows small notification icons in the upper left corner, so it's almost impossible to see what's going on at a glance. To return the full-fledged cards, open Settings, go to Notifications, tap Lock screen notifications, and in the Notification style section, change the setting from Icons to Cards.

After that, the detailed text of the messages will appear again without the need for additional taps — the change that still causes bewilderment in relation to Samsung's original intention.

As a reminder, Samsung's One UI 7 has proven to be one of the fastest and most user-friendly Android shells available. Thanks to a few point changes in the system, the device becomes more responsive to user actions, energy efficient, and convenient in everyday use.

We also wrote that Samsung has already started to distribute the stable version of One UI 7, based on Android 15, for some previous models. The updated firmware includes several features that may go unnoticed but significantly improve the interaction with the smartphone.
